Does that mean that characters like the section sign 0x00A7 and the
pound sign 0x00A3 ignored are not processable by the CJK package,
since 00A3 < 0x800? So that one would have to rotate the characters
manually in the document with the graphicx package? This is what I
have done for now, defining commands to handle the characters that are
ignored otherwise, with a \rotatebox{-90}{character here}.

In TTF fonts the GSUB table gives an alternative glyph for vertical
(or other I suppose) modes, but I do not know enough about fonts to
say whether including such information in the Wadalab fonts is a
possible ( or good) solution.
