I haven't seen this at all. What I am seeing is that the Cavalier is a newer AKC breed and demand is skyrocketing for show puppies. A lot of new people are getting into the breed that don't yet understand breed type. They are often sold dogs that lack breed type, but don't know any better--just yet. They test because this is more concrete and they want to do something for the breed that they do understand. It will be several years before they really understand breed type, but eventually most of them will. I call it *growing pains*. Eventually the Cavalier will get beyond that. And if we all help--it will be sooner rather than later. As I said before, for those long-time breeders who are very health conscious and their dogs lack type--in most cases it is because they don't understand type--not because they are picking one over the other. Again, we all pick our puppies based on type, not health, because that is the only way we can do it. If a breeding is picking wrong--help them!
