Well I am not long term - but almost 15 years. I would say the average age here in the US is between 9 and 10 years old. This would average in all the pets as well as breeding/show dogs. Here in the US we live in an age of overfeeding - just sit in a vets office for a few hours and watch all the portly pets (all breeds) walk thru the doors. And when you take a breed that is predisposed to heart problems - you are just asking for a bad outcome. Coupled with the fact that many of the popular studs used here in the states have not come from lines with longevity and I think that hurt us for many years. Barb Hoorman Benchmark Cavaliers - TX
