Ellen, I always keep the best dog, regardless of white. The criteria for my selection is always: are the puppies I am running on better than either parent? If not, they are sold as companions on a spay/neuter contract. I am running on a ruby who is shorter backed than either of her parents and has a delicious head. She stood out from the very beginning and has only gotten better at 12 weeks of age! Della has white on both rear feet and I am hoping her red slippers will cover it; if not, if she is as good an example of the breed as I think, then a judge will still place her. Her white on her head completely disappeared and there is very little still showing on her chest. She is out of wholecolor parents but her grandmother had white on her rear feet which she got from her blenheim father, AKCCh.Salador Columbo at Cornercreek. You keep the best of the best and breed only the best to the best, that is the only way to make progress when breeding. I hope this is helpful. Patricia Powers Pratt Cavaliers

Two black and tans in the litter have white on chest/abdomen, and perhaps a tiny bit on the back toes. Is this usually dominated or covered by the longer black hair eventually? Mother is a black and tan without any white; father is a blenheim. What would be your decision making process in deciding to run on a wholecolor with some white?
