Hi Charlotte, I have to say that is a bold statement that you make. How can you speak for "ALL" of the petowning membership?? Have you polled all of them? Many people know that I am very much in favor of testing dogs......however, I don't believe in mandatory testing. I test my dogs so that I can make intelligent decisions for my breeding program. Mandatory testing does NOT make an ethical breeder.....there are unethical breeders in every breed, no matter what the registry......that much I have learned from my time in dogs. An ethical breeder uses testing to make the best decisions for their breeding program. It is my feeling that it is up to the buyer to ask the breeder for the documentation if it is not offered. I always include documentation in my puppy packets.........but very few puppy buyers even ask me about it before hand. If you mandate testing, you can be sure that there will be certificates that have been doctored. Sad, but true. Mandatory does not necessarily go hand in hand with ethical.
