Too right - that describes exactly how Qmail-Scanner utilizes ClamAV. I find that in excess of 99% of viruses/trojans/spyware-apps are blocked by ClamAV before the next (commercial) AV gets a go at it (and obviously finds something). In fact, there's several spyware-type "viruses" that ClamAV catches that several big-name AVs still don't catch... (I think that may be on purpose: note that some commercial AVs appear to want to differentiate between anti-virus and anti-spyware - as if some how the latter was different...) ...i.e. when I put the commercial one in front of ClamAV - <99% are caught by the commercial one... -- Cheers Jason Haar Information Security Manager, Trimble Navigation Ltd.
