 Is this a piss take? 

 Firstly, you have to be externally connected in some way or form to
receive an update, BBS or web.

 Secondly, the 'deception' question has been answered in the past on the
list. It is in the archives.

 Thirdly, did anyone mention IIS? No. He said a website. And if your
friend is open to attacks on his INTERNAL network, then he has more than
running crappy M$ software to worry about.
