Another note on Don's post: dhcp on the ghost client works fine booted to
Windows; it only times out on dhcp requests when booted to DOS mode for a
refresh. The error log on the client makes mention of bootp, FWIW. A packet
trace I did a few weeks ago showed the client broadcasting a request, and
the cas answering (repeating ad naseum; client is ignoring the reply). We've
been looking at the client to see if there's a way to force dhcp, or even
give it a fixed IP address in DOS mode. So far their support people haven't
been able to successfully tell us how to implement either of those
workarounds - which is fine, I'd rather the problem be resolved than to work
around it.

Thanks to all for your input
