Jeremy,

We had to migrate *off* Cisco hardware to our Dell servers precisely
because Cisco decided to EOL the old hardware. Most of that old hardware
is still in use in our organization.

I do not see how Cisco/HP hardware will have a longer end-of-life than
any other hardware vendor. If anything, Cisco tries to EOL quickly in
order to push the upgrade cycle.

Bruce and Michael,

I understand your concerns about your internal end-of-life plans vs
Cisco introducing the appliance, but lets be reasonable. All
applications have changing hardware requirements depending on the
version you are using.

Changing to a Cisco appliance may have many advantages over third party
hardware especially when it comes to Cisco's control over developing the
upgrade process, and in the long run it could be less expensive because
of the fact that the appliance is Cisco hardware and will have a longer
end-of-life.

I am just knuckle dragging engineer so please contact your account team
reps for a full cost justification of migrating to an appliance. Then
you can judge if it makes sense, and you will have a short/long term
cost justification for management.

Regards,

Jeremy

Todd,

So, does this mean that those of us that are using our own hardware will
either need to re-purchase them with appliances or move to a different
NAC solution?

That's a great upgrade plan!

So we run CCA software on our own hardware, have since before Cisco
purchased it. We are going to replace our hardware and so I went to the
Cisco website to check on supported hardware.

Is the supported hardware info up to date? We use Dell and they dont
even
offer some of the supported hardware specified in the document. Also,
does
CCA support quad-core processors?

Thanks for the help
