I wonder if this is a path related issue. Like is C:\windows\system32 where the file lives on the student machine. If they did an upgrade it may not be. Did you hard code the path for the file in your check? If you used s variable for system directory or windows install directory try hard coding it in the check. On the other hand, if it's hardcoded, try using a system variable. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to find out that Clean Access can't remember where it thinks it put the windows directory.
