It's a legal thing. See CR 6289464 and/or jbeck. > It seems like a waste of space to me. Maybe. There are times when legal is wrong and the cost is so high that we have no choice but to fight. Then there are times when legal is wrong but the cost is small so there's no reason to bother. In this case, we're talking about an additional 5 bytes (2F 0A 0A 2F 2A) per file, which theoretically makes a 1GB gate with 51348 files in it a mere 256KB bigger. It's not worth bothering about. If we're going to complain about obtuse legal requirements, it's far, far more offensive to me personally that we lard every file with the full CDDL text. I think that's completely unnecessary, and could have been done with a single-line reference to the license instead. But I lost that battle long ago. -- James Carlson, Solaris Networking <james.d.carlson at sun.com> Sun Microsystems / 35 Network Drive 71.232W Vox +1 781 442 2084 MS UBUR02-212 / Burlington MA 01803-2757 42.496N Fax +1 781 442 1677
