addendum the --with-native-system-header-dir=/tools enabled me to remove
the line
echo -en '#undef STANDARD_INCLUDE_DIR\n#define STANDARD_INCLUDE_DIR
"/tools/include/"\n\n'>> gcc/config/linux.h
which gave an error of something like tainted headers or similar
