CLFS isn't the best way to do that. I'd use a uname_hack to make your
kernel appear to be a i586 and use a straight LFS or CLFS. It won't
matter at that point. The reason being is that only /tools is
cross-compiled. The final system builds to whatever the output of
config.guess is.
