Jim, thanks for this. I'll give it a go tomorrow. I'm assuming
you haven't actually built it on ppc64 ? Looking at OS_TEST I think
a more likely value is just 'ppc' (at various places there are
references to 'uname -m', ppc, ppc64, etc) ? My uname gives ppc64
in multilib. Probably i686 for 32-bit on x86_64 ?
