If you're going to build BLFS-6.1 it would be better for you to ask your questions on the BLFS support mailing list. Though I'll try to answer a few of them. First, BLFS-6.1 is _too_ old for using with the latest xLFS's. BLFS editors recommend using development version of the BLFS book rather than a stable one at the moment. > But I am confused on some issues. > 1. Should I follow the order in the book? I know that you don't need all > packages, but does order matter? Every package from BLFS has a dependency list consisting of required dependencies and optional ones. In theory, these dependencies are the only thing controlling the build order. If you're going to build a package you should first build all its required dependencies (and their dependencies as well), then those of the optional dependencies you'd like (and their ones too), and then the package in question. > 2. Should I build X and Kde first and all the other softwares afterwards? No, actually. For example, you should build OpenSSL _before_ KDE. But if you're going to build some X application the you have to build it _after_ building X. -- Nothing but perfection pv _______________________________________________ Clfs-support mailing list [email protected] http://lists.cross-lfs.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/clfs-support
