I just tried this on 1282 lazy branch with assert-if-lazy-seq, and I
get no exception and no hang:

user=> (time (db-write))
"Elapsed time: 802.020886 msecs"

I wonder what's different?

I seem to have version 1.6.0_07 of javadb, java, and javac, running on
Ubuntu.
