I am curious as to why first (and other functions) are defined in core as:
(def ^{:arglists '([coll]) :doc "Returns the first item in the collection. Calls seq on its argument. If coll is nil, returns nil." :added "1.0"} first (fn first [coll] (. clojure.lang.RT (first coll)))) instead of: (def ^{:arglists '([coll]) :doc "Returns the first item in the collection. Calls seq on its argument. If coll is nil, returns nil." :added "1.0"} first (fn first [coll] (clojure.lang.RT/first coll))) When the general consensus seems to be that the latter is more idiomatic/readable, especially for beginners? --Robert McIntyre -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Clojure" group.
