Hrmm... strange...

I don't know. I must say I was a bit surprised. Mandrake 9 did a wonderful job of detecting everything. I don't understand quite why 9.1 is having so many problems for me, considering that my hardware configuration is exactly the same as it was for 9.

My WinTv card isn't a Go, it is slightly older model. I have Never had a problem with it before though, under any Linux distro (and that is going quite a ways back).

As for my Sound Blaster Live!, it seems very strange that that isn't working. It doesn't appear that Mandrake included any utilities for configuring ones sound card... Nothing a recompile won't fix though... Actually I re-compiled the other day, but havn't had a chance to try out my new kernel yet. Still, if Mandrake is aiming for "ease of use" I think it would be wise for them to include some sort of a sound config tool, even if they just threw Red Hat's "sndconfig" in there that would be enough. If there is a sound config tool in there and I'm missing it please let me know. :-)

I'd have to say that I love Mandrake 9.1. I found 9.0 to be very buggy,
but they seem to have worked most of the problems out in 9.1. My
Hauppage WinTV Go card was recognized and configured by the installed.
Unlike with previous versions of Mandrake I didn't have any problems
getting the card to work. I was able to go straight into Zapping and
setup the channels and watch. I haven't tested the cards capture
capabilities yet, as I've never been able to get that to work properly
in the past. It also had no problem configuring my soundblaster card and
lilo. Maybe your just having some bad luck :-). I really like the fact
that they finally have a working Gnome installation, and I love the fact
that Mandrake Galaxy makes my QT and GTK apps look consistent. The only
gripe that I have so far is that I cannot get the sub-menu to allow me
to select copy, move, or link when dragging and dropping files in
Nautilus or Konqueror. I also don't like the fact that KDE defaults to
double click to open files and folders, but that's easy to change.
