We need more Free Software/Open Source/ activities here in Alberta to promote, those can be make from users to users. Remember that part of the success of Linux and Open Source Software are the creative users out there, so we do not need to wait until the big distributors (Novell, Red Hat, HP, IBM) do something for Linux.
I was part of some Linux activities in my former country (El Salvador, Central America) and there the Linux Group is very active. They have performed a lot of activities like install fest, conferences, open labs in universities and colleges, we promote Open Source in newspapers, radio and TV, also had exchanges with LUG's in Guatemala and Costa Rica, just to promote Linux use and we have a lot of success, now more people know Linux and more bussiness, universities and the goverment too, use Linux and other Open Source programs. I hope we can see more activities here in Alberta and if somebody wants to go to those countries and share their knowledge, the user of Linux there, are very friendly and you would be well received.
