Hey all.

I've been liking how simple qmail is to manage, and decided it was time to take the
next step - IMAP and web based email. So, I installed bincimap and got it running
with qmail. I next went throught the joys (note the sarcasm) of getting an SSL
certificate authority setup and signing a certificate, and configured bincimap to use
it. Then I installed Squirrelmail.

I'm noticing some weird behaviours from both Squirrel and IMAP in general. I have MS
Outlook configured to connect to my IMAP server, and migrated all my emails into an
IMAP folder. This process takes a very long time - longer than one would expect in
transferring simple files, and I'm getting time outs on a regular basis talking to the
IMAP server. If I disable SSL and do plain text, things are more stable, but the
processing still seems slow.

When I open Squirell, it's hit and miss whether it'll work. When it does, it looks
like I'm close, but then I run into a huge delay opening my inbox (top on the server
shows bincimap taking 99% of cpu time during this delay).

I suspect I probably have multiple issues going on, but there is likely one or two
core problems that are causing the others.

So, I was curious if anyone else has setup qmail with bincimap and Squirrellmail. If
so, any tips where I should be looking? If it helps any, this is on a Gentoo server,
but I don't think these issues are distro specific.

Thanks for any input. I can forward logs/conf files if needed.

Shawn
