I would also suggest another possibility if you're looking at spec'ing out
your laptop as well as avoiding paying the MS tax.

I bought my Asus M6BNe laptop from Memory Express last year and have had
absolutely no issues with it. You can choose a "bare bones" model of laptop
and spec it out as you desire.

I've been extremely glad that I went this route and I believe that Memory
Express even offers a CLUG discount to boot.

There are a couple of excellent on-line communities dedicated to linux on
these laptop "shells", so help is only a few clicks away.

As others have suggested, the best course of action is to check out the
tuxmobile sites as well as linux on laptop sites specific to your interest.
I researched my purchase for a full 2 months before committing to it.

As an aside, I absolutely _love_ the widescreen 15.4" display on this
thing! ;-)

I'll be toting it to the next meeting in all likelihood and the wifi b/g is
working well using Intel's sourceforge project -
http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/index.php

Good luck!

Chris
