Interesting. Do you know which cards eth0 and eth3 belong to? It may be in your boot log, or the output of 'dmesg'.
Also, do you know if your network cards work in this configuration when you are using another OS? It may be a BIOS configuration problem (IRQ related perhaps.) Just a thought. -Mark C.
