never done this before and it is driving me nuts

as a training exercise I'm trying to install chroot named on Centos 5.8
(yes I must do exactly this)
get this error message
"dbus_bus_get(): Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket:
Permission denied"

the dbus-daemon also starts up jailed. is this the problem?

After initial jailed permission problems with named
I had changed all the /var/named/chroot tree permissions to 770 and group named
is this a permission or H/W problem?

what is the fastest safest way to fix or uninstall redo?

thanks,
Frustrated in training
