Subject: RE: can this resident be
PPS?
Resident was on PPS prior to discharge to hospital. Was sent back to
hospital due to bilateral pneumonia. Other Dx for PPS was late effect of CVA.
When resident was being discharged from hospital..MD ordered Hospice due
to resident's condition. At this time, he is really not doing good (not a
rehab candidate). I can put him on PPS for skilled observation (had IV med. in
the hospital) He will be hospice today (2nd day). How about the 1st day?..can
I put him on PPS for that 1 day?
I
don't know where my previous CFO heard about what I mentioned on my first
e-mail.
There is not one simple answer...
MC/PPS depends upon a skilled
necessity....soooooo
What is the diagnosis?
Was this person on Hospice prior to being
hospitalized? Iif so for what end stage disease? Did this person
(if on Hospice have perhaps a fall that fx. a hip and now requires
skilled interventions?

Subject: can this resident be
PPS?
I had heard
from our previous controller that if resident has an order for hospice
care let's say prior to readmission to SNF, (that means while resident
was still in the hospital), that resident should not or can not be put
on PPS. What is your comment on this? What would you do? Thank
you!
