In addition to the obvious inability to get OOB, access to body and freedom of movement consider blocking line of sight, effect on socialization, potential for depression etc. Also, a tip from our last survey-surveyor really looked hard at reason for padding r/t potential for suffocation. Fortunately all our documentation was in place and they were the firm pads so safer.

Does anyone knows if 1/2 padded siderails for safety is considered a restraint? Patient has dementia, very restless and has a tendency to hit her head on the rail. Thank you. |
