Social Isolation was a big issue with our survey team. IF they meet the
definition of a restraint, good documentation and a good plan of care
with documentation of compliance will save the day. Did for us. They
don't want us to not provide necessary care; they just want to be sure
we are addressing all issues that are a result of that care. Makes sense
when you look at it that way.

Besides the restraint issue, check to see if the padded siderails
obscure the resident's vision. The padding has been identified as
"sensory deprivation" and could potentially be identified as involuntary
seclusion if the care plan does not address frequent checks and an
activity plan if the resident is in bed for any length of time during
the day.
