You have received some good advice.  Our children were 16, 15 and 7 
when my husband was diagnosed 2 years ago.  We were unable to wait, 
as the older ones were aware of unusual appointments, etc.  We told 
them honestly what we knew at the time.  Gleevec was newer, so you 
will have more postive information to share.  We were able to keep a 
normal schedule with their activities, and tried to fall apart in 
private.  

Now, almost 2 years later, I think they sometimes forget.  We are in 
the middle of assembling our 2nd Light the Night team, involving my 
son's football team.  They are doing as well as my husband!
