Was the Philadelphia chromosone found? This is an abnormality indicitive of Leukemia. From what I know the FISH test is an actual "mapping" of the chromosones. A deep molecular test.

Several weeks ago I had posted that we returned from vacation to learn
of a positive cytogenic test result for our son Stuart. On the advice
of our Onc and the Lab, we waited several weeks to do another BMA and
verify the results.
We received those results today, and they were identical to the first:
6/20 ph+. Not good news, since he was PCRU last fall. Although I
suppose that since the number didn't climb during the 6 weeks between
tests that there is some comfort in knowing that things are stable.
Curiously, the FISH test done on the same sample indicated 9%. I
recognize that FISH is a very different testing process, but I was under
the impression that it is more sensitive and should therefore show a
higher number. Can anyone explain this to me?
We are still assessing options but it looks likely that the first step
will be increased dosage of IM (he is on 400 now). The one wrinkle
appears to be the possible removal from the study protocol, as it seems
there is no allowance for dose variation in the study and an exclusion
for 'progressive' disease if it reaches or exceeds 30% ph+. Will have
to wait to see how they interpret that and what impact that may have.
