Your situation seems to be a bit odd to me. The norm for Gleevec patients is to have low HGB and low RBC, not high. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone on Gleevec having these counts high. As well, the norm for Gleevec patients is to have terrible diarreah, not constipation and I've never heard of anyone having their bowels shut down. Infact some have been so unfortunate as to have their sphincters function non-stop, without control, not the opposite which is what you are having. I don't recall seeing your symptoms listed in the Gleevec prescribing information either. Could it be possible that you are on other medication that is causing these side effects? Maybe something in your diet? I hope you find a solution.
