I'd like to echo the comments of Terry and Rob. That said, in the
first several months of taking Gleevec, it is normal for blood counts
to oscillate, sometimes quite a bit as in your case. I think most of
the experts would advise shots or oral medications to compensate if you
are too far outside of the normal range, but the priority would be to
keep you on Gleevec. It took my blood counts (particularly platelets)
about 12 months to stabilize completely after I started on Gleevec.
You might want to talk to one of the numbers guys like Druker ot Cortes
and see what they think. Make sure you are able to send them accurate
historical data.

I maintain an Excel file containing my test results. That way, any
time I have a question I want to put to one of the experts, I can just
email him the data.

As Rob noted, dasatinib will very likely be available in July of this
year. Every piece of evidence I've seen, both anecdotal and
scientific, indicates that it will be the right solution for many
people that are struggling with Gleevec. You'll want to make sure that
your oncologist is familiar with it.
