Yes, I have been told that I had a leukemia with long life expectancy. So far
(knock on wood) so good....7 yr in remission on Gleevec.

Hi SuzieQ:

I had a ton of x-rays when I was 14 years old due to a fracture of my
left wrist. They could not get the bones to heal, so weekly calcium
shots and constant xrays were performed. After 9 months, my arm
finally healed. Then, as an adult, I worked in a hospital where this
small room was at one time an xray room - it was lead lined. I worked
for years in that small room with 7 other people. Would old radiation
hang out in that lead-lined room? Doubtful, but who knows? Then, how
much radiation are you exposed to by working on computers for years
and years? My local onc told me that CML is the luck of the draw. I
guess we all drew a crappy hand (lol) - but, it could always be
worse;. Did anyone else's onc tell them that they got the "good"
leukemia? Just curious, I've been told this.

Chin up!
Kelly
