Hi Don:
I was diagnosed in March '09 and started on 400 mg Gleevec. In March
'10 I was bumped up to 600 mg Gleevec. My swollen eyes have stayed
with me throughout. I find that if I watch my salt intake that does
make a bit of a difference. However there are days when I am very
careful with salt and still have very puffy eyes, meaning eyelids and
underneath. I tried Preparation H under my eyes and it helped but it
is so strong that it hurts the delicate eye area. There are some days
when the swelling gets somewhat better as the day goes by but for the
most part, this is a side effect that I have been unable to conquer. I
can truthfully say that the Gleevec has changed the way I look because
my eyes are so puffy that my lids have practically disappeared.
Good luck to your wife. If she finds something that helps, please
share it with us online. How is she doing otherwise? My other two big
issues are stomach problems after taking the Gleevec and the tiredness
that can be very debilitating.
