Yea, I’m all for leaving well enough alone, but my concern is that with this model there is no inner wire for the furler. The furler is the forestay. If the top or bottom assembly give out, the forestay is gone. So I’m thinking a little preventive maintenance is prudent.
I get the feeling this make/model is relatively rare, but hoping someone out there has worked on it. I'd leave it alone. Save up for a replacement. The new furlers work much easier. It’s still working ok, but since I don’t know how long it’s been since the bearings have been looked at, I’m considering taking it off over the winter and rebuilding it. Does anyone on the list have this model and done the rebuild?
