Actually, Garmin does sell a USB to RS232 connector. But it’s about $50. You can buy an adapter at Radio Shack, Best Buy, or any other computer store for $10 to $20.
And I’m not real pleased that they stopped updating the Bluechart CDs back in late 2008. But then, the devices I have that use those charts are over 10 years old and have been discontinued as well. Rich: Garmin also screwed owners of perfectly good older GPSs by declining to provide cords so that the devices can be plugged into modern USB ports instead of the outdated serial ports. If you want to plot a course on your computer and transfer it onto your older Garmin GPS, well, you’re out of luck. Go buy a $600 handheld.
