My observations from the Toronto boat show: Decreasing sailing section as usual - 85% fuel burning, gas guzzling power boats and that's where the huge lineups were Sailboat mfrs present: Beneteau, Jeanneau, Hanse, Dufour, Bavaria, Hunter, Catalina plus some day-sailers One of them had this huge flybridge-like hardshell dodger - I pointed at it and said to the sales guy - windage. He replied - comfort. Poor finishes in every one - almost all MDF - isn't that stuff heavy? Unless you feel you've got to have that 'formica' look . . . Loved the retractable blinds/screens over hatches - I want to buy a couple to retrofit on my hatches Boat parts - (bits 'o boat): curious how you walk into a chandlery booth advertising about 1/2 off foul weather gear (Gill) but then find out the womens are only marked down about $30. My SO (significant other) was not impressed with that tactic. I was looking for a navpod for my E7 and the Raymarine guy said to look at Scanpods. Anybody have them and like them? I could spend all day (or even two days) rooting around, getting advice and looking for good deals, but by bringing along SO and my son I was unable to do that. They have time and patience limits.

I wish they would show a C&C or Tartan at the show but they only bring out the Catalinas, Hunters, Dufours etc. I made off with the customary boat hook and I got a great deal on the discontinued Raymarine ST40 Depth and Speed instruments. Boxing day deals got me a bluetooth kenwood stereo and infinity speakers for the cabin so I've got some gadget installation to do before launch... which I'm eagerly looking forward to. Spring is just around the corner! Any highlights? I went on a weeknight so I likely missed some stuff. Steve C&C 32 Toronto -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
