My limited experience on a 44 foot cat between Virginia and No. Carolina was not fun. Funny motion as the cat has a sidewards motion on top of the up and down. Plus, in waves, the cat gets hit by the water between the hulls and it sounds like someone is under the boat with a sledge hammer pounding on the hulls.

I'm not convinced - but the owner brought it back (with skipper) from France.....and outside of Beaufort, the dolphins swimming between the hulls was something I'll never forget!

I wonder what the motion on a cat would be like. On a mono hull the roll is dampened by the wind on the sails. On a cat there is
that wide stance. Anyone here have comparative experience?

One way to look at it, an open 40 would be anything but a comfortable ride. Flat bottom trough landings in one of those must knock
your teeth out.
