Gary:

I replaced mixing elbow, muffler and exhaust hose from the muffler back to the thru hull. We have different boats so I can't be specific on the challenge you may be facing with your exhaust hose.

The biggest challenge for me was getting access to the thru hull at the transom. I had to take out the propane locker and that proved to be a PITA....I had to make a tool from a piece of 'angle iron' to cut the adhesive that held the locker in place. Then I had to virtually stand on my head to reach the thru hull. When I put the propane locker back in, I rebeaded it with buytl. (spelling incorrect). Running the new hose back under the cockpit was not a problem. If you think it will be on your boat, try duct tape the new one to the old one (muffler end) and pull it through.

Now the mixing elbow replacement was a real challenge....by the time I had completed that job, I looked I like I had been 'mugged'.....the 'contractors' that do this work on a regular basis deserve all the money they get paid.

yesterday I picked up a new mixing elbow assembly for our yanmar 3gm30. The old
one was just about closed up with rusty carbon and crud I'm surprised the
engine worked at all ! The next thing on the list is the flex hose that goes
from the water muffler to the transom. I'm not to sure about trying to wiggle
all the way back there you know it has to be a 2 way trip ! Has anyone been
down this road before and if so any advice ? Liberty is a 38 foot Mark I and it
looks as though the transom is about 42 feet in back of the rudder shaft.
