I knew about them and I looked briefly on line but did find a source, that's when I thought a starship captain might have the knowledge and resources to design and build one and in so doing maybe make a little profit on his invention

It was something she got from a camping outfitter. Had batteries to run the fan, a piezo-electric igniter for the butane, and was refilled by one of the butane cans you use to refill a lighter.
