Hi Steve, Interesting observation. Here off New Jersey, we see small groups of dolphins pretty regularly and never tire of watching them play.
My favorite "wildlife" experience only happened once. I was running the boat along Cape May at the end of the season, late October and came upon hundreds of Northern Gannets migrate south. I had to use google after my trip to identify the birds. They are about three times the size of our seagulls with 6 foot wings. One would swoop low along the sea surface for a 100 yards then hover at about 15ft for a while and then dive underwater where they disappeared for 30 secs or so and then pop up and sit on the surface to rest for a few minutes and repeat.
