The family names thing reminded me of my dad's motor boats. His
first was "Miss Carriage." My mother had a late in life miscarage
and he figured out the savings through college and got a
boat. Needless to say, the folks at the Buffalo Launch Club were not
impressed. His next boat was conservatively named by the combination
of family member names: "TALTA" (Thomas, Anne, Louise, Thomas,
Anthony). A always thought that was a pretty cool name.
Our Alera, which means Eagle in Latin, was the oroginal name she was
documented with and was changed back. The PO had changed the name to
Summer Breeze (worst name ever IMO) without the proper ceremony. Not
being the type to take chances, we changed it back to Alera and did
the full ceremony anyway.
