When I got Mistress 4 years ago it was my first sail boat, and when I stood the mast and rigged the boat for the first time, it was a lot of firsts all at once for me.
Having taken lessons before I bought a boat I was expecting 2 separate jib sheets, to be tied with bowlines, but found only one sheet while rigging up. Not knowing any better I attached it exactly like this method. It is a bit tough to get loose at the end of the season, but I have never had it catch anything and will continue to use it as I don’t race and rarely if ever change the sail.
