+1 on Mikey Hoyt's point..

Windstar is an '85 33-2. same gen, very similar design to 35-3, and only
a little smaller.

My new Gori 33-2 prop is 16.5" X 11 RH, per Gori's recommendation.

OE Martec was stamped RH16DX10P-3

The 2 lblade fixed I used briefly may have been 17" and it worked fine. It
was either bigger or more steeperly pitched.

Our Frers 33 currently has Martec RH 16DX14P-3 The 16 inches does not seem
to large and it is certainly a smaller boat than the C&C 35-3. Note that
we also have the 3GM30F engine with Kanzaki transmission. Flex-o-Fold has
sold me a 16 x 12 prop (on its way from Denmark as I type this).

Should Dave be checking Cutlass bearing, the keys where coupler is attached
to shaft, etc? Sounds like something is normally in alignment then once
out gets reseated by pulling back on the shaft (reverse) and then pushing
shaft forward.

HI Dave,
If you can only get 2600 RPM something is wrong. You either have the
wrong pitch or there is something wrong with the engine (throttle cable,
etc.). If there is black smoke at 2600 RPM it is most likely the pitch.
If the pitch is too great, I'm wondering if the prop is cavitating which
can cause vibration. Also, a 16" diameter sounds large for a 35 MK III.
If the blades swing too close to the hull, that can cause vibration. I
seem to recall that if the blade swings closer than 15% (I think) of the
diameter from the hull that will cause vibration. I had a 35 MK II and a
14" prop was marginal.
