Welcome Robert! My former boat, a 25mk1 had an aluminum mast step on the coach roof with a "removable" stainless pin. The base of the mast had a horizontal u shaped cutout that fit on the pin. I suppose you could possibly rig a gin pole to hoist the mast using the pin as a pivot but it is a hefty mast for a 25' boat and I always used a crane to step and un step the rig. Plus, the pin was melded to the step from years of galvanic activity, so I had to slide the mast base forward and then use the pin to position it on the mast step. Never tried a tabernacle approach. The mast fitting seems to have an incorporated tabernacle.
