I'm having a rigger come out next week to have a look at our standing
rigging and mast, it's all original so I'm sure we'll end up with yet
another horrific bill. I'm seriously considering going to wire instead of
rod, but I'll get quotes on both

Andrew, you're right, I want to pull the mast so I can take the collar off
the deck, fix some voids, and rebed it, plus change all the fixtures and
the wiring, and add spreader boots. Elkhide sounds good, I'll have to see
if I can find some. I have cowhide and deerhide (I think) in storage
somewhere.

That brings up another thought, I'll start a separate thread for that.
