Fred: My 3GMF (20hp) does the same thing. When I first start it I give it full throttle, and it starts fine. After a race, it starts fine with no advanced throttle. I just assume the fuel is flowing back in the line, and it's taking a while to get to the engine. Some day I'll tighten all the fuel line fittings.
