I did mine this spring as well using VHB tape and Dow Corning sealant, both of which appear to be adhering fine. I used acetone as the final prep wipe for the gel coat, and an alcohol/water solution as the final prep wipe for the acrylic. I don’t know about 3M building caulk that you used, so I can’t comment as to that. Except for reports that the VHB tape bond strengthens over time, my guess is that removing the window, the Dow Corning caulk, and VHB tape will not be as difficult as you might expect. You may want to call 3M and ask a technical person about removing the tape (and in your case the caulk).

I used the VHB tape and the 3m building caulk. 3 out of 4 seemed to come out ok, but on the fourth the tape did not bond very highly. It started on the very front of the stb port, but I was on the boat when it was raining and it seems the seal failed in multiple places. I can push separation between the window and deck in a few spots and the caulk didn't seem to bond. I am hoping I can get the window of without breaking it, but then will need to get the tape and caulk off to start over. Anyone face this?
