Brian:

Your question is too open-ended for a meaningful response. Do you want a
No. 3 for racing, or are you looking for a cruising sail? Are you wondering if
that size is big enough (or small enough) for the perceived need? Do you want
new or used?

A racing No. 3 is typically somewhere around 110, so if that’s what you’re
looking for, that’s about right. I had a sweet dacron “blade” made for my 1978
34 that really moved the boat along when the wind built. For cruising, my
current boat came with a RF 135. I liked that size for that purpose because it
was big enough to make the boat go fast but small enough to tack through the
rig and bring in without too much difficulty. I ended up replacing it with a
153 because we casually race main and jib races most Wednesday evenings during
the summer and don’t want to change the headsail every time we go out. The
bigger sail is a bit of a hassle for cruising, but everything’s a trade-off.

So, why would you like to have a 100 or 110 on hand?

My 1979 C&C 34 is only equipped with a 155 headsail. Would like to have a 100
or 110 on hand. Any ideas?
