I have a different ‘pod - a ScanPod (https://scanstrut.com/products-22/scanpod/spr-8-am-detail). I thought that the swing arm would work for me, but, as Chuck mentioned, they don’t rotate. I got rid of the arm and installed a RAM mount articulated arm. The problem is that the wires run externally. But I don’t need that many (just one, for the network). This allows me to access the Autopilot’s head from the side and from in front of the wheel.
Pictures here (one is collapsed (as for storage - not to interfere with the wheel cover), the other is when in operation): https://www.dropbox.com/s/tmziazxa3x56h74/20190726_212737.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/ntit2mzr3v5d33f/20190804_144218.jpg?dl=0 Marek 1994 c270 #122 ”Legato” Ottawa, ON From: CnC-List On Behalf Of Chuck Gilchrest via CnC-List Sent: 23 April, 2020 16:34 To: cnc-list@cnc-list.com Cc: Chuck Gilchrest <csgilchr...@comcast.net> Subject: Re: Stus-List NavPod -- Anyone Have One Of There? (Link Below) I have one on my boat but located the arm so the pod centers inside the guard, not off to the side. One misconception is that the pod will rotate on the arm. Not so. It is designed to be fixed and will loosen up if left to rotate on the arm. An inexpensive articulating instrument arm that allows wiring to run internally would be a godsend to most cruising sailors and electronics installers.
