Randy,

I believe you are misinterpreting the HIN.  The form used by C&C would be you have hull #007, which started construction 9/72.  Did you get that HIN off your transom?  It seems like you are missing a digit.

Hi Chuck,

I know sailboatdata.com or some other publication says production of the 30 MK I started in 1973, but it actually started earlier than that.  I have hull #79 which was built in 1972 (HIN 30007972).  Cheers.

Hi Janet,
Sailboatdata.com is a great resource as well as cncphotoalbum.com if you look through the brochures. The C&C 30 came out in 1973.  Brokers called it the Mk I and the 30 MkII came out in 1988, so you probably have the MkI. The mark numbers are broker terms to differentiate the various models.  Year of design would be better for me.

You surely can sell boats or give them away here (for us
        longtime members at least).
The boat market is quite odd to say the least. Prices seem
to be high for used boats for the most part, but older
boats seem to be about impossible to sell. Probably half
the C&Cs for sale right now were for sale years ago. Old
boats are about impossible to finance and difficult to
insure. Dark Star is about as nice a C&C 30 as can be
found and is not moving at 11K.
I would leave the boat in the water, prospective buyers
can pay for a haul themselves.

Is it permissible to offer a boat for sale here? I’m on
the fence about keeping, selling or donating my 1980 C&C
30’. Is the economy badly affecting sales? Should I take
some of the newer items off first to part some things out
like new lifeline covers, throwable cushions, $500 new
halyard, sail and binnacle covers? Would it be better to
leave in the water (slip paid through end of year) vs. on
the hard so it’s easily inspected (but no test sails)?
I’ve enjoyed racing this boat since 1993 and am ready to
        move on.
