Are you running over a personal firewall such as Zonealarm?

If you are switch it off and the FTP may run quicker

We noticed a few issues with ProFTP and some CISCO routers or firewall
software that allowed command line only ports through but either denied or
slowed the data transfer port.

If the F/W is the issue change your FTP setting to "use firewall" if
available

Subject: [cobalt-developers] SLOOOOOO FTP access

Anyone know why it is painfully slow to do anything FTP related on the RaQ3
appliance? Any tips out there to help speed it up? I am accessing it over my
LAN using 100mb connections.

Thanks!
